The DV port is bi-directional. So the same port and the same cable will be used to capture and record from the tape and record back to it. These same DV ports/cables carry both the audio and video signal so no extra audio cables are necessary.
Some customers may confuse a DV port with a USB port and their associated cables.
On a DV or Digital 8 camcorder a DV port will typically be labeled as one of the following:
- 1394
- iLink
- DV
- Firewire
Here's an example of how it may look on a DV or Digital 8 camcorder
If your camcorders port doesn't look like this it may instead look like and connects to the computer with a cable that looks like then you are using USB, not DV.
