Enabling DMA in Windows Vista
- Log onto Windows as Administrator (or as a user with Administrator privileges).
- Click the Start button, then right-click on Computer and choose Properties from the pop-up menu.The System window appears.
- Click the Device Manager link on the left.
- In the Device Manager window, double-click IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers to see the list of controllers.
- Double-click Primary IDE Channelor anATA Channel.
- In the channel's Properties window, click the Advanced Settings tab.
- In the Device Properties pane, check Enable DMA.
- Click OK. You do not need to restart Windows.
Enabling DMA in Windows XP
- Log onto Windows as Administrator (or as a user with Administrator privileges).
- Click the Start button, then right-click on My Computer and choose Properties from the pop-up menu.The System Properties window appears.
- Click the Hardware tab, then click Device Manager. The Device Manager window appears.
- Double-click IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers to see the list of controllers.
- Double-click Primary IDE Channel. The Primary IDE Channel Properties window appears.
- Click the Advanced Settings tab.
- Choose DMA if available from the Transfer Mode list for Device 0.
- Click OK. You do not need to restart Windows.
Enabling DMA in Windows 2000
- Log onto Windows as Administrator (or as a user with Administrator privileges).
- Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop and choose Properties from the pop-up menu. The System Properties window appears.
- Click the Hardware tab, then click Device Manager. The Device Manager window appears.
- Double-click IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers to see the list of controllers.
- Double-click Primary IDE Channel. The Primary IDE Channel Properties window appears.
- Click the Advanced Settings tab.
- Choose DMA if available from the Transfer Mode list for Device 0. Click OK. When Windows asks if you want to restart, Yes.
Enabling DMA in Windows 98/98SE/ME
- Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop and choose Properties from the pop-up menu. The System Properties window appears.
- Click the Device Manager tab.
- Double-click Disk drives to see the list of disk drives.
- Right-click on IDE DISK (may have another name, such as GENERIC IDE DISK) and choose Properties from the pop-up menu. The disk's Properties window appears.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Select DMA if it is deselected, then click OK. When Windows asks if you want to restart, click Yes.
