WinZip Courier is an easy-to-use, time saving tool for zipping files you have attached to Microsoft Outlook email messages. It also integrates with your web browser so that you can zip and protect your email attachments directly within Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, and Gmail. WinZip Courier can be used to easily zip (compress) your email attachments and more. Recipients of your email messages do not need WinZip Courier to receive email attachments that have been zipped by WinZip Courier.

However, whether your Zip file email attachments are created with WinZip or WinZip Courier, the person receiving them must have WinZip or another Zip file utility in order to extract and open the files contained in the zipped attachments. In fact, if you receive attachments that have been zipped, you also will need a Zip file utility such as WinZip to open them and extract their contents.

Please also consider the following:

Encrypted Email message

Starting with WinZip Courier 10.0, the actual email message can be sent inside an AES encrypted Zip file. As the first bullet point above indicates, some third part Zip file utility will be needed to open and decrypt the .msg file inside the Zip file, then that can be opened in Outlook. The receiver doesn't need WinZip Courier, but if they have this latest version or newer, a button is provided to open the message after you have to type in the password, making it much more convenient.
