How to turn off or reduce the frequency of Corel Update Helper notifications


Disabling in-product messaging:

 

PaintShop Pro X7 and greater

To turn off messages in Corel PaintShop Pro X7 or a more recent version, please follow these steps:

  1. Open PaintShop Pro
  2. Go to your Help menu and select Message Preferences

3. To disable the messages you receive when PaintShop Pro is running, uncheck Keep me informed with the latest product related messages from the Message Preferences dialog box

4. Click OK

5. Next, delete the Messages folder by taking the following steps:

 For Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 10 users:

  1. Hold down the Windows and R keys on the keyboard simultaneously
  2. When the Run box appears, release both keys
  3. Type: appdata in the Run text box
  4. Click OK
  5. Double click on the Roaming folder to open it
  6. Double click on the Corel Folder
  7. Highlight the Messages folder and press Delete on your keyboard

 

For Windows XP users:

  1. Click START
  2. Click RUN
  3. Type:  %appdata% in the open box
  4. Click OK
  5. Double click on the Corel Folder
  6. Highlight the Messages folder and press Delete on your keyboard

 

 

 

PaintShop Pro X5 and previous

 To turn off messages in Corel PaintShop Pro X5 or an earlier version, please follow these steps:

  1. Open PaintShop Pro
  2. Go to your Help menu and click on the Corel Guide

3. Click on the Product Information and Preferences icon to the right of the Messages tab and choose Message Preferences from the drop-list

4. Uncheck Keep me informed with the latest product related messages from the Message Preferences dialog box

5. Click OK

6. Next, Delete the Messages folder by taking the following steps:

 

For Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 10 users:

Disabling product alerts via the Corel Update Helper

In some versions of PaintShop Pro, you may receive Corel product alerts from time to time via the Corel Update Helper. You will see these messages in the Windows Notification Area (System Tray). For instructions to turn off or reduce the frequency of these notifications, visit Corel Update Helper Preferences.
