VideoStudio Pro X4 Ultimate -
When using a Firewire connection to capture video, you may experience a crash dump in Windows.
The resulting Event Viewer log will display: "Faulting application vstudio.exe, version 14.0.0.0, time stamp 0x4e787784, faulting module IVIVIDEO.ax"
To resolve this issue, you may need to install an older Firewire driver on your system.
Windows XP
- Click on Start and then choose Run.
- Type devmgmt.msc in the Search box and press Enter.
- Find the IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers in the list of devices and click on the + next to it.
- Right-click on the host controller node and choose "Update driver ..."
- When prompted to check Windows Update for a driver, choose "No, Not this time"
- Select "Install from a List or Specific location (Advanced)" and click next.
- Select Don't search. "I will choose the driver to install" and click Next.
- Ensure there is a check the box next to “Show compatible hardware”.
- Choose the second option ”1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy)” and click on Next to update the driver.
- Once the Legacy driver has been installed, you may be able to capture from your camcorder.
Windows Vista/7
- Click on Start and click in your search box at the bottom of the Start menu.
- Type devmgmt.msc in the Search box and press Enter.
- Find the IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers in the list of devices and click on the + next to it.
- Right-click on the host controller node and choose "Update driver software ..."
- Choose "Browse my computer for driver software"
- Choose "let me pick from a list of device driver on my computer ..." and check the box next to “Show compatible hardware”.
- Choose the second option ”1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy)” and click on Next to update the driver.
- Once the Legacy driver has been installed, you may be able to capture from your camcorder.
