Corel DigitalStudio hangs when importing DVD contents from a DVD disc

If you are importing a video from a DVD disc that contains "VIDEO_RM" folder, VideoStudio 2010 or DVD Factory 2010 hangs and no longer responds.

VideoStudio 2010 and DVD Factory 2010 only support the following DVD logical format:

1. DVD-Video (Video_TS folder)
2. DVD-VR (RTAV folder)
3. AVCHD (BDMV folder)

VideoStudio 2010 and DVD Factory 2010 do not support proprietary DVD format from some DVD set-top recorders (Video_RM folder). A workaround for this is to change the VOB file extension (*.VOB) into MPEG-2 file extension (*.MPG):

1. Close any Corel DigitalStudio applications.2. Double-click "Computer" icon from your desktop to launch Windows Explorer and see the list of your drives.

3. Right-click on the drive where you inserted your DVD disc and select "Explore".4. You should now be able to see the contents of your DVD: VIDEO_RM and VIDEO_TS folders.

5. Double-click VIDEO_TS to see the following contents (please note that this may not be exactly similar to yours):

  • VIDEO_TS.BUP
  • VIDEO_TS.IFO
  • VIDEO_TS.VOB
  • VTS_01_0.BUP
  • VTS_01_0.IFO
  • VTS_01_1.VOB

6. Copy the VTS_01_1.VOB to:a. For Windows XP:

i. C:\\Documents and Settings\\[username username]\\My Documents\\My Videosb. For Windows 7 or Vista:

i. C:\\Users\\[username username]\\Documents\\Videos7. Rename the VTS_01_1.VOB to VTS_01_1.MPG.

8. Launch VideoStudio 2010 or DVD Factory 2010 these applications should automatically add the VTS_01_1.MPG video to the Media Organizer.

If you can't see the file extensions (e.g. *.IFO, *.BUP, *.VOB, *.MPG), please do the following:

1. Launch Windows Explorer and go to Tools > Folder Options. If you can't find the Toolbar (Windows Vista), just press the Alt key while you are in the Windows Explorer.2. Under View tab, uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types".
