Symptoms

You may see one or more of the following:

The last error is typically found in the Windows Event Viewer's Application > Windows logs.

In some cases, the Roxio installation log may also show entries such as:

Cause

This issue is usually caused by an invalid Windows folder path stored in the user profile settings.

Most commonly, the Documents folder is still pointing to an old or unavailable drive, such as D:\, even though that drive no longer exists or is no longer accessible.

This can happen after:

Roxio Creator NXT 9 relies on these Windows folder paths during installation. If one of those paths is invalid, the installer may fail with Error 1327.

Resolution

Check whether Windows is still pointing the Documents folder to an invalid drive.

Important:
Please back up the registry before making any changes.

To resolve the issue:

  1. Press Windows key + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
  2. Go to the following registry keys:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
  3. Look for the entry named Personal. This entry represents the Documents folder.
  4. Verify that the path is valid. Correct values are typically:
    In User Shell Folders: %USERPROFILE%\Documents
In Shell Folders: C:\Users\<your Windows username>\Documents
  5. If Personal is pointing to an invalid location such as D:\Documents or another unavailable drive, change it to the correct valid path.
  6. Also review other user folder entries if needed, such as Desktop, Downloads, Pictures, Music, and Videos, and correct them if they point to a non-existent drive.
  7. Close Registry Editor.
  8. Restart the computer.
  9. Run the Roxio Creator NXT 9 installer again.
